Charles Clinger is the current CEO of TerraWest Consulting, serving in that role since April 2025. Charles joined the company as a co-owner and managing partner in July 2023. Prior to joining the company, Charles was a practicing attorney at various law firms in Wyoming and California, where he focused on business and real estate transactions. Before his legal career, Charles enjoyed a successful banking career in Wyoming and Utah as a commercial lender. Charles continues his involvement in the banking industry by serving on the board of directors of a Wyoming community bank.

Charles was born and raised on the border of Idaho and Wyoming, where he grew up working on his family’s dairy farm and other local farms and ranches. He became an avid outdoorsman, a passion that continues to this day. This passion is what led Charles to his role in conservation and mitigation work with TerraWest Consulting.

Charles was also a prolific athlete from a young age. After graduating high school, Charles attended Boise State University and Weber State University to seek his undergraduate degree and to compete on their track and field teams. Charles was a record-setting long and triple jumper on those track and field teams but really stood out as a high jumper. Charles was one of the most accomplished collegiate and professional high jumpers of his era. His high jump accomplishments include winning the 2001 NCAA indoor and outdoor national championships, earning five NCAA All-American honors and seven Big Sky Conference titles, and winning the bronze medal at the 1999 Pan American Games. Charles also competed in the 2000 and 2004 U.S. Olympic Trials, finishing as the first alternate for the 2000 U.S. Olympic Team. His personal best high jump of 7 feet 8.5 inches (2.35 meters) remains one of the top marks in world history.

Charles is a graduate of Weber State University (B.S., Business Administration/Finance (2002), and University of California, Davis School of Law (J.D., 2010).
