Mel Shumway

Mel Shumway was raised in Star Valley, Wyoming on the family dairy farm and from an early age was always wondering and working on how to enhance the land and make it more productive. After college at Utah State University where he majored in Agriculture Education, Mel moved onto work as an agronomist working with most major cropping systems in the West. With a passion for conservation and helping the land, Mel transitioned into a sales and consulting role with various chemical and fertilizer companies for the next 20 years. In 2015 Mel founded Valley Vegetation Solutions to leverage his many years of experience in invasive and noxious weed management and works with large landowners, energy companies, major utility companies and various agencies in Wyoming and surrounding states. Mel brings his love of nature and a passion for conservation and invasive species management to the Inter-Mountain West and serves on several boards and collaborations in the state.
